February 22, 2010 | Recipe: Chocolate Goat Cheese Truffles
We served these delicious and easy-to-make truffles over Valentine's weekend, and they were a hit. The truffles paired beautifully with the Anglim 2005 Syrah, 2005 Best Barrel Blend, and 2006 Petite Sirah too! We used a lovely mild goat cheese from Vivant Fine Cheese, and bittersweet chocolate chips. Our Anglim 2007 Mourvedre - Hastings Ranch Vineyard (our first varietal Mourvedre) is again receiving positive wine reviews! - James Laube of Wine Spectator described the wine as "Firm and spicy, medium-to-full-bodied, notably peppery, with dried berry fruit and subtle earthy touches. This is elegant and stylish. 88 points."
- Tanzer's Josh Raynolds described it as "Fresh red berries and cherry on the nose, with complicating notes of dried flowers and licorice. Juicy, fresh red fruit flavors are framed by silky tannins and given lift by zesty minerality...This wine avoids the hardness that plagues many examples of this variety. 90 points."

“Great Food, Great Wine and a Great Cause” is the theme of this year’s fundraiser brunch for the Wellness Community, hosted by Anglim Winery on Sunday, May 17 from 10am-6pm. “We have a special connection to the Wellness Community and are happy to help support the non-profit cancer support agency. We will be donating 50% of the weekend sales from our 2008 Rosé and 2003 Reserve Syrah Best Barrel Blend, and 100% of the fee from our Festival Brunch, which is $5 per person, and available Sunday from 10am until it’s gone!” explained, Steffanie Anglim. Tangy and pure...There's an elegance and precision here that reminded me of pinot noir." Scored 90.

Anglim's 2006 Viognier - Bien Nacido Vineyard and 2006 Grenache made Robert Parker's list of Top Value Wines in California" in the newest edition of The Wine Advocate (#178). Wine Spectator editor James Laube reviewed the Anglim 2006 Pinot Noir - Fiddlestix Vineyard for the September Pinot Noir Report, and had the following to say: "Savory fresh earth, clay, dried cherry and wild berry fruit is balanced and complex, with touches of anise, sage and mineral. Very complete. Drink now through 2011. 151 cases made. –JL" The score of 87 points is the highest rating given to a Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir for the 2006 vintage, and one of the highest overall for the South County. 805 Living's tasting panel selected not one but two Anglim wines as part of their Top 20. The Anglim 2004 Roussanne was described as "elegant and balanced." Of the 2003 Reserve Syrah - Best Barrel Blend, they said: "...this full-bodied red is 'balanced with a hint of chocolate.' It also features a nice long finish. Drink it now. Drink it later. Anglim Winery's 2003 Syrah - Best Barrel Blend Reserve was awarded a Critics Platinum in the 2006 Critics Challenge International Wine Competition. Judge Leslie Sbrocco described the wine as "Red hot Syrah! Old-world elegance with earthy complexity, a peppery kick and fresh red berry fruit notes." As in year's past, Paso Robles Wine Festival weekend was truly a family affair at Anglim Winery. Steffanie's family flew in from literally all over the country to pour wine in the park and at the tasting room. After a raucous Winemaker dinner Friday night, the crew work long and hard Saturday showcasing Anglim wines to both new and returning customers. Anglim's 2003 Syrah - Best Barrel Blend Reserve was awarded a Double Gold medal at Vineyard & Winery Management magazine's West Coast Wine Competition. With a field of over 1,680 entries from California to Australia, the judges awarded a total of 33 Double Gold, 160 Gold, 507 Silver, and 426 Bronze medals.
